Today we made our way from Pensacola, Florida to Biloxi, Mississippi, via Alabama.  It was a very nice scenic drive and a ferry boat ride.  It was also another beautiful day with sunny skies and temperatures around 20 C (70 F) which made it quite pleasant for walking. 

These seagulls (and many more) hitched a ride on the ferry.  

Everyone once in a while a few of them would just decide to fly off  and then return.

I decided to get a shot of just one seagull.  Notice the nice blue sky.  Ever since Costa Rica, I have been working on my action shots.  I had no idea it would be so difficult to get a sharp photo of a moving bird and being on a moving ferry did not help!

After the ferry ride to Dauphin Island, Alabama in the Gulf of Mexico we walked along the white, sandy beach which went on for miles.  I loved how the sand was so white and smooth in areas.

In this photo you can see the the nice patterns in the sand.  

We came across a couple of kite surfers.  You have to look pretty hard to see them- I was sorry that I didn't have my telephoto lens with me so I couldn't get a close up shot.  It sure looked like a lot of fun.  The water was very cold though- the guys were wearing wet suits but one of the fellows had bare legs which must have been freezing.

I stopped to take this picture on the road.  I just liked the look of the pastel houses.  After getting a closer look we realized that they weren't houses at all but just facades with boats behind them.

Tonight's sunset did not have great colors- too many clouds I guess.  Still I liked the silhouette effect  of the pier.  

Another long exposure shot- notice how silky the water looks. Unfortunately the sunset colours were muted tonight.

I liked the mood that this shot portrays.  

Very similar shot to the one above, only this was a longer exposure shot.   What a difference in colours!

I loved the effect once the lights on the pier came on.  

This was the last shot of the night.  You can see one of the large casino hotels in Biloxi off of the beach.
