Lake Powell is a reservoir on the Colorado River straddling the border between Arizona and Utah.  The scenery is absolutely stunning.  This was our first visit to the area but definitely not our last as there are so many things to see and do here.  Next time I plan to take a rafting trip down Colorado River, take a boat ride and then hike to Rainbow Bridge, do more hiking  and of course take a photography excursion to Antelope Canyon.  

This was one of our first  views of the lake.  I was so impressed with the scenery.  Even though it was well before sunset the rocks picked up a nice warm glow.

This photo was a close up view of the distance mountains which explains the muted background colours.  I still liked the shot though.

I liked the cloud formations here.  

This shot was taken around  sunset from the beach at our hotel.    I was starting to get some nice golden colours.   You can see all the houseboats in the distance.

While I was waiting for the sunset colours, I took some beach shots with  long exposures to make the water look silky.

One more beach shot.  Unfortunately,  I couldn't find a spot with more rocks to make the photo a little bit more interesting.

I was starting to get some nice colours from the sky.  I like how the trees all look diagonal- makes for an interesting shot.

Now the colours were great.

This was just about it for the night as it was starting to get quite dark.  I had lost the glow by this time but I still liked this shot.   This was a six second exposure which explains the silky look of the water.  

One last shot as I headed back to the room.  Not the greatest sunset as there were no clouds.
