Sedona Arizona

We started the homeward journey this morning leaving Scottsdale, Arizona  along with thousands of other snowbirds heading north.   This became very clear on the highway as we looked at the license plates from all over the US and Canada, including Ontario and Alaska.  Ralph mentioned that he thought he would never be a snowbird while I remarked that I always thought I would be one!   We were very sorry to say goodbye to Pam and Doug and also Abe and Rita who we were also fortunate enough to spend a lot of time with on this trip.  On the plus side we met up with our friends Maureen and Ivor in Sedona which was a two hour drive north of Scotsdale.  Ivor joined me to take sunset pictures on the beach  while  Ralph and the the girls caught up on all the news with Maureen, James and Doris.  Then we went out and had a very nice dinner together.

Starbucks with a view!   This shot was taken from the local Starbucks in Sedona.  Sedona is a beautiful town often called Red Rock Country.   You can see how blue the sky was (no polarizer filter required).

On our way to Red Rock Crossing, we stopped at a scenic overlook on the Upper Loop Road.

I just liked this tree at the same lookout.

I was fortunate enough to see this bird in the river at the Red Rock Crossing park.   Unfortunately I didn't get a real close up shot.

Next we walked down to the river.  I took a picture of the water using a very long exposure.  This is my artistic shot of the day.

Here is the landscape view looking in the other direction.  You can see Cathedral Rocks in the background.  This shot was take around 5.30 PM, about an hour before sunset.

Finally it was time to move to a different section of the park so we could take some sunset photos.   I was using a wide angle lens but as you can see Cathedral Rock was very  far away in the image.

Time for a vertical shot.  I was starting to get some colour.

Now back to a horizontal view.

An even closer view of Cathedral Rock.

Ok, last shot of this view showing  the red glow in the sky and on the rocks.

This shot was taken from a different viewpoint.  I just liked the colours.
