Sarapiqui

Early on the morning of February 14 (as usual our  meeting time was 6 am) our group walked to the waterfalls located on the property of the  Arenal Observatory Lodge.  After breakfast we departed for Sarapiqui stopping at Muelle to photograph Iguanas.  We arrived at the Selva Verde Lodge in time for lunch and a swim before getting together to photograph some wildlife on the grounds.

The waterfalls were beautiful if a little tricky to walk down to.

After photographing the waterfalls I walked through the tropical rain forest.    While walking I was reminded of all of the Tarzan movies I watched as a kid.

We were lucky enough to see this bird on the road- I believe it is called the Bare-throated Tiger Heron.   We were all quite far away from this bird so this is a heavily cropped photo.

We stopped at Muelle to photograph Iguanas.  There were lots of them all around and none of them seemed to be afraid of people so we could get quite close.

Here was a fellow enjoying his lunch.  They like cabbage/lettuce.

I'm not sure what this one was thinking about.

Definitely a heron and from field info, you have the right one. Particularly enjoyed the waterfall photo.

I'm just getting a chance to look at your Costa Rica pics. You make the iguanas look better than they do. And the large one of the tree frog is awesome
