Sunset at the Pacific Coast

May 27, 2012  •  1 Comment

We went to a small public beach close to the hotel to photograph the sunset.  The last couple of  shots  included of the evening  were taken in close to total darkness.  I learnt a new technique - using the bulb setting  on the camera to keep the shutter open for a very long time.  By now most people were in the bus (except for our guides and myself) waiting to get back to dinner so we were a bit rushed.   There is quite a bit of guess work involved to figure out the correct exposure and after every shot you have to wait quite a while for the processing.    I had to use my flashlight to see what I was doing and my iPhone to time the shots.  I think the technique worked pretty well.
