Toronto Zoo

Hi Everyone.  We have been very busy since we have arrived home again.  It sure is nice to be home but it has been extremely busy trying to get caught up with everything.   I can't quite manage it- there is always so many distractions like watching  the bridge team tryouts  on the computer this week.   However, there is always time for more photography so I joined a local photography meet up group that meets up a the zoo every couple of weeks.  The first  meeting was on Tuesday- in spite of the coolish weather.   The group  concentrated on photographing the Gorillas and the Hippos.

It wasn't easy to take pictures of the gorillas since we had to shoot through dirty glass.  I plan to go back again soon to practise on the gorillas again.  Good thing I bought an annual pass because I plan on going there often.

A friend of mine suggested converting this image to black and white and sent me a sample of what it could look like.  I thought he had a great idea so I converted  it.  I think I actually prefer this image in black and white.  What do you think?

A lot of the time I just watched the monkeys instead of taking pictures.  They are so entertaining.

It was also fun watching the hippos.  As a bonus, they were much easier to take pictures of -no glass.

Just like Maggie and Katie, this one likes carrots.

As much as I like black & white photos, I actually think that you can see more detail in the coloured print. I like the different colour gradations in the first pictures. I also think that the gorilla 'pops' more because there is better contrast with the background.
