Cobourg Beach Area

July 20, 2012  •  2 Comments

Once again we missed the sunrise but it was a fairly cloudy morning so it didn't really matter.  We were still out by six AM though.  We went back to the same beach to find different photo opportunities.  I also went back two other mornings.  After the second morning we did not do any more shooting as the second part of the course was on workflow development.

Richard Martin,  a fantastic photographer and instructor  who ran the workshop suggested that we try to find an interesting approach to photographing the  tower.  This isn't that different of an approach but I liked the foreground and the beautiful tree on the side.

I once read that the best time to take a vertical shot is after you have taken a horizontal shot so I try to remember this advice.

As you can see it was a little stormy/cloudy by this time.  The weather changed very quickly in the morning.   I liked the fence line in this picture although it does cut across the tower.

Here is a different shot in the same area.   At this point the weather brightened up a bit- it was constantly changing.

This shot was taken at the very far end of the park.  I was just wandering around and saw and heard  something in the bushes.   My first thought was that it was probably a coyote.   I turned around and there was this fox so I quickly took the picture hoping that I got him/her in focus.

Our group then headed over towards the marina, lighthouse and condos on the other side of the park.  I think these condos are very picturesque.  Cobourg was a very nice town so I could understand people moving here to retire.

As I was walking towards the lighthouse along the road I saw these great colours in the sky.  I really liked the soft pastel colours  and the reflection on the water.

This was the old road leading to the lighthouse.

This shot was taken was I was walking on the above road and looking down at the water.

I went back another  morning when it was sunny out and took a close up picture of the tower.

This shot was taken on another trip  to the  marina early in the morning before class started.   I was fortunate enough to get some neat clouds and their reflection in the photo.

One last shot of the sail boats.

One of the mornings was a little stormy and we got some rain. This shot portrayed the gloomy weather.

I think the shot of the water from the old road is upside down. Nice pictures though.
